01

Start with the job, not a headline price.

A grab hire quote needs to describe the material and the visit. A pile of excavated soil, a rubble collection and a delivery of new aggregate are different jobs, even at the same address. Local Grab confirms a price after checking the brief. There is no online fixed rate on this page because a number without the material, quantity and site details would give you an unreliable budget. Start with your postcode, what needs moving and whether you also need fresh material delivered.

02

The details that change the quote.

Material type helps the team establish the right handling and destination. Quantity affects the likely loading requirement, while weight can matter before the lorry looks full. The route and a workable stopping position also affect planning. Tell us about restricted access, a shared drive, overhead obstacles and how far the pile is from the proposed loading point. Include the requested date and any sequencing constraints so the quote reflects the visit you need.

03

Prepare a useful quantity estimate.

For a loose stockpile, measure its approximate length, width and average height, and add a photograph with a useful sense of scale. The load planner converts those measurements into an indicative volume and weight using an explicit density assumption. That result is a discussion point, not a vehicle allocation or a guaranteed number of visits. If you have not excavated yet, explain the area and planned digging depth; soil can occupy a different volume once it is disturbed.

04

Compare the whole arrangement.

When comparing quotes, check that each covers the same material, approximate quantity, site and service. Ask whether VAT and any job-specific charges are included in the agreed total, what access assumptions have been made, and what happens if the material differs from the description. If you need both removal and new aggregate, request one coordinated brief. A combined enquiry makes the sequence clearer; whether it can be handled in one visit still needs confirmation.
