Walk the entire approach

Look beyond the entrance. A vehicle needs to reach a safe working position and leave safely. Note tight bends, parked vehicles, branches, overhead cables, weak covers, slopes and shared routes. The narrowest point can matter more than the apparent width of the road.

02

Measure and describe

Record gate width, the distance from the stopping point to the pile, overhead obstructions and the surface type. Give actual measurements where possible. Our planner records these facts; it does not issue an automated safety approval.

03

Photographs that tell the story

Prepare a view looking towards the entrance, one looking out to the road, a wide shot of the stopping position and a view of the material. Include reference dimensions in your notes. Keep people, vehicle registration numbers and neighbouring private details out where practical.

04

Let the team confirm

Vehicle dimensions and working reach depend on the assigned lorry and setup. The old site lists indicative dimensions, but no generic measurement guarantees access. Discuss the site with the team and let the driver make the final on-site safety decision.
