01

Describe materials specifically

A pile called rubble may contain concrete, brick, plaster, wood and packaging. List what is present rather than using one broad label. The accepted route and quote depend on the actual material.

02

Keep unknown material separate

Do not mix liquids, chemicals, asbestos or suspected contaminated material into a general collection. Tell the team about the site history and any testing. An image cannot establish that soil is uncontaminated.

03

Separate as you work

Set aside areas for agreed waste streams before excavation starts. Avoid placing clean soil onto a mixed waste pile. Keep incoming aggregates away from outgoing material so both remain identifiable.

04

Check acceptance before booking

Ask which materials can be collected, whether testing is needed and what records are required. Only the agreed load should be presented for collection. For hazardous or uncertain waste, obtain appropriate specialist advice.
