01

Start with the planting

Lawn preparation, raised beds and general level changes can need different soil properties and depths. Use the landscape design or horticultural advice to establish what is needed. Screened does not mean every soil is suitable for every planting application.

02

Ask about the current source

Confirm texture, available analysis and any specification requirements. A photograph shows appearance rather than nutrient content, contamination status or performance. Where a standard is required, ask for the relevant evidence.

03

Calculate a starting quantity

Measure area and intended depth. The topsoil calculator shows volume and uses an explicit illustrative density for tonnage. Wetness and settlement affect the result, so confirm the order quantity with the supplier.

04

Protect the new soil

Plan where the delivery can be placed without mixing it with demolition waste or compacting sensitive ground. Keep the material identifiable and coordinate any removal before the topsoil arrives.
