01

Before the first dig.

Establish the construction build-up with your installer, including the excavation, specified sub-base and finished surface. The aggregate enquiry should follow that design. Measure the area and record the material required for each layer; do not use a generic online depth as a substitute for a project specification.

02

Give the outgoing material a plan.

A driveway excavation may produce soil, an old surface and existing sub-base material. Describe them separately and explain how they will be stockpiled. Avoid assuming the whole excavation is one accepted material. Use the load planner for a starting estimate and discuss access before choosing where the pile will sit.

03

Protect the delivery sequence.

The incoming sub-base needs a clear receiving area and a practical route to the work. Tell us whether the outgoing material blocks that position, whether the driveway will be usable, and what alternative stopping arrangements need assessment. Request collection and delivery together so those dependencies are visible in the quote.

04

Confirm the next phase.

Share the measurements, product specification, postcode, photographs and preferred timing with the team. Agree the visit before arranging dependent work. Material suitability, the allocated vehicle and the final order remain site-specific checks. If the design changes during excavation, update the brief rather than relying on an earlier estimate.
